The Minor in Painting allows students to focus on painting as a medium, discipline, process and vehicle to evolve conceptual thinking with painting practices. It will provide students the opportunity to explore the technical, formal, historical and theoretical approaches to painting through a combination of studio courses. Explorations in traditional mediums such as oils and acrylics will be utilized as well as mixed media and non-traditional mediums.
Creative Expression: Painting offers a unique outlet for creative expression, allowing individuals to explore their emotions, ideas, and perceptions through color, form, and texture. Technical Skills: The minor provides students with the opportunity to develop and refine their technical skills in painting techniques, such as color theory, composition, brushwork, and various mediums (e.g., oil, acrylic, watercolor). Critical Thinking and Analysis: Through the study and practice of painting, students learn to critically analyze artwork, understand artistic concepts and movements, and develop their own artistic voice and style.
