The course introduces students to the importance of healthy eating and active living, which, in-turn, can produce the best results for your overall well-being.
From building a plate, to how our digestive system works, to acquiring proper nutrition for each stage of life, we will cover the role health and keeping active plays in achieving one’s body goals.
Students will become familiar with key nutrition concepts and learn tools one can use in their everyday lives.
Helping students understand that it’s not about being on a diet, but instead making nutrition and healthy activity a part of one’s lifestyle is the mission of this course.
Understand the role of macronutrients vs micronutrients and how to read a nutrition label.
Define what the digestive system is and how it works. The importance of the physiology of the GI (gastrointestinal) tract.
Differentiate nutrition based on gender, age, sex, and target population.
Learn why supplements, exercise and lifestyle are important.
Realize how using the right methods like meal planning or food journaling can optimize ones’ own health.
