Job Summary:
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) is a care provider who functions under the direction of the registered professional nurse. The PCT assists other health care providers with safe, age appropriate and culturally aware care by performing basic patient care functions; ie ambulation, vital signs, phlebotomy, simple treatments and discontinuing foley catheters; transporting supplies/equipment/patient medications and performs other duties deemed necessary t ensure delivery of optimal care.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provides patient care under the supervision of the registered professional nurse Transports unit supplies, patient care supplies, and medications and equipment as assigned Transport patients Provides safe environment for the provision of patient care Supports initiatives of the health care team Promotes excellence in customer service Participates in performance improvement initiatives Maintains confidentiality Performs secretarial duties as deemed necessary Supports professional nursing practice through shared governance and evidence based practice Help clean and stock rooms and perform any other duties or task deemed necessary by the Resource Nurse or Manager Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma General or GED General
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 3 years hospital/outpatient care setting or two semesters clinical nursing school experience Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care Ability to multi-task and function in stressful and emergency situations Strong detail orientation required Computer skills required BCLS certifies Ability to pass Cardiology 101 Personal time management skills required
