Novant Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse – Operating Room to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our perioperative department. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. You will serve as both a circulating and, when appropriate, a scrub nurse, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate operating room environment that aligns with Novant Health’s mission of improving health.

As an OR Registered Nurse at Novant Health, you will be responsible for comprehensive pre-, intra-, and immediate post-operative nursing care. You will conduct thorough patient assessments, verify surgical consents, allergies, and histories, and participate actively in surgical safety processes such as time-outs and debriefings. You will prepare the operating room by setting up appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies; maintain strict sterile technique and infection control practices; and monitor patient status continuously during procedures, including vital signs, hemodynamic stability, and response to anesthesia. You will advocate for patient safety at every step, ensuring accurate medication administration, proper positioning, prevention of pressure injuries, and careful handling and labeling of specimens.

Working in a fast-paced, technology-driven surgical environment, you will document all aspects of care in the electronic health record, communicate clearly and respectfully with the surgical team, and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions. You will support both routine and complex surgical cases, contribute to postoperative handoffs to PACU or appropriate recovery areas, and provide education and reassurance to patients and families before and after surgery.
