Senior It Administrator
Responsible for unique or complex information systems and/or information technology projects across more than one discipline, such as application support, database administration, software quality assurance/quality control, software engineering, network telecommunications, and infrastructure operations of administration, analysis, engineering and design. Provides direction to other IT administrators on the project in a senior administrator capacity. Considered a technical specialist in a variety of IT administrator disciplines.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and supporting complex information technology and systems infrastructures.
- Conducting analysis including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of complex information technology tools. Assists in capacity planning and solution scaling development.
- Handling user requests for system needs and upgrades that are very complex and often involve extensive research.
- Troubleshooting and resolving unique or complex problems in an efficient manner. Provides support to development, test, and production teams with troubleshoot issues as a senior level resource.
- Implementing various applications of a highly complex nature. Developing and patching hardened images.
- Administering and running complex tests on operating system and related software.
- Scheduling, performing, and monitoring system backups and, when necessary, performing data recoveries.
- Performing root cause analysis and diagnostics on very complex production systems.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and working with team members to implement efficiencies.
- Effectively creating and maintaining relevant systems documentation and user guides.
- Acting as a mentor to junior team members. May act in a lead capacity, providing direction and oversight to a team of administrators.
- Applying scripting methodologies to automate IT admin related tasks.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience; master's degree preferred.
- 8-15 years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.
Other job specific skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products that include Microsoft Windows 7 & 8, Windows servers, Microsoft office and SharePoint 2013, Microsoft Lync 2013.
- Applies standard methodology, techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex system hardware, software or networking related problems.
- Ability to plan and coordinate the deployment of new technology and resolve technical problems individually and as a senior project participant.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to non-technical employees/customers.
- Ability to consistently meet and exceed expectations and incorporate customer service into all aspects of work.
- Advanced experience with Citrix, SAN storage systems, VMware (vCenter).
- Experience with a variety of systems to include VMware, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, vCenter, etc.
- Experience automating or orchestrating the provisioning of new services.
- Advanced knowledge of security policies, requirements, and vulnerabilities.
- Proficient in developing infrastructure-as-a-code solutions for continuous deployment.
- Working knowledge of token/PIV based authentications, desktop visualization software and director services, Oracle databases, configuration and auto deployment tools.
