This course immerses students in the fast-evolving world of Location-Based Entertainment (LBE) as applied to global sport through the lens of soccer. Students will explore how clubs, leagues, venues, and host cities craft end-to-end fan experiences that blend culture, technology, operations, media, and business strategy.
Using MLS and Miami’s 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations as active case environments, the course examines venue operations, crowd flow and service design, communications and crisis response, partnerships and sponsorship activation, digital and AR layers, accessibility, community impact, and evolving revenue models.
This course prepares students to design, evaluate, and lead sport-centered LBE initiatives that are culturally grounded, operationally realistic, technologically enriched, and commercially effective. Miami and MLS examples anchor the coursework, supported by global comparisons from other host cities to broaden perspective and strengthen analytical capability.
